Mammy Belle

I have been inspired to create black dolls lately. These are my latest creations.
They stand 18 and 19 inches  tall.

Beyond our control

"So comes to us at times, from the unknown
And in accessible solitudes of being,

The rushing of the sea-tides of the soul;
And inspirations, that we deem our own,

Are some divine foreshadowing and foreseeing
Of things beyond our reason or control."

A new black doll

I would like to introduce you to Sable. She is 24 inches tall and holds her lamb in her arms.

February is the in between month of the year. It's between the coldest month January, and the beginning of Spring in March. Oh how I wait for Spring time. Everything starts coming to life once again after a long weary sleep under a blanket of snow frozen over top.
I have been keeping busy making my dolls and trying out some new recipes and old ones.
I made this wonderful congealed salad last week and it didn't last long. It is well worth the effort in making it.
I will share it here. This is an old recipe and very good.

     (Fruit Bavarian Jello)
Dissolve one 3 oz. box lime jello in 1 cup boiling water. Add 1/2 cup cold water. Pour into an 8 x 8 inch square pan and place in refrigerator to set up.
Mix 1 cup ground graham crackers  with 1/4 cup melted butter. Press into a 9 in. x 13 in. glass pan.
Bake in 350 degree oven for about 10 min. or until crust starts to brown. Time depends on your oven.
Mix  one 3 oz. box pineapple or lemon jello and 1/4 cup sugar into 1 cup of boiling water. Stir to dissolve. Place in refrigerator until it begins to thicken.
Whip 2 cups heavy cream until fluffy. Add 1 can 8 oz. pineapple tidbits (drained)
1 cup miniature marshmallows and 10 maraschino cherries halved into the whipped cream.
Fold all of the above into the thickened pineapple jello.
Cut the lime jello into 1 inch squares and add to the pineapple jello mixture. Fold all together and scoop onto the graham cracker crust. Sprinkle walnuts over the top and chill until set.  Yummy!!!

"Your face, Lord, I will seek."

Dr. Alexander Maclaren, the great Scottish preacher, attributed everything he knew to one habit: spending an hour each day alone with God.  Sometimes he allowed other into his study, but they were never allowed to speak. Maclaren would sit in a well-worn armchair with his Bible lying across his knees. Sometimes he'd read it's pages, but mostly he'd just sit with his hand over his face. During that hour he wouldn't read the Bible as a student, or study it for sermons.  One of his assistants noted,"He read it as a child would read a letter from an absent father, or your heart would drink in the words of a loved one from far away."  How well do you know the Lord? How well do you know Him.? The answer is not in what you say but in what you do.  What you truly desire, you pursue. The psalmist said, "When You said , Seek my face, Lord, I will seek." Ps. 27:8
